Once again we invite you to come and spend a day on the banks of the dam on the Restless River wine farm and soak up some live music and good times. This event has two main objectives. Firstly, that you (and your kids if you have) experience an epic day enjoying the awesomeness of the surroundings, the company of friends and the music tickling your ears. Secondly, a huge part of why we put this event on is to raise funds for the Ithemba Labantwana Children’s Home in Kayalitsha.
All of the musicians have kindly offered their services to us in aid of the amazing work that Ntombi does with her 13 orphaned kids and we’re very lucky to be in a position to be able to help her out whenever we can. All of the profit we make from your entrance fee goes straight to her. Go and check out the Facebook page for the home and feel free to contact us if you wish to learn more about them or offer assistance of any kind.
On to the event. Saturday the 7th of February is the date this will be happening and you’re invited to come and set up on the banks of the dam from 10am. The Raising of the Barrel will happen around 11h30, kicking off the first act at 12. The music will run through the afternoon and wrap up shortly after dark. Although limited, we are doubling the numbers, so we advise an early arrival to ensure you get a prime spot for your crew. As per last year we will be providing music, a place to jol, braais and wood so you tan as many chops as you wish, a sparkling dam to swim in and crisp wine on tap
The barrel of white wine that has been chilling on the dam floor since the last Fest will once again be tapped so you can fill your bottle or jug straight from the source (R50 a bottle with proceeds to the charity). That will be the only booze for sale, it’s up to you to bring whatever else you need so come prepared.
Things you should bring:
Ice (lots of)
Whatever you’re drinking (other than wine, we‘ve got you covered there)
Stuff to braai (looooots of wood will be provided)
Life vests for kids under 10 (more on this later)
Lillo’s, inner tubes, inflatable hippos etc, etc
You get the idea. As for the music, so far we have Sannie Fox, Farryl Purkiss, Taleswapper, Patrick McKay, The Larter Brothers and Bilderberg Motel confirmed with more to be added closer to the time.
With the event being held in and around the dam we will have lifeguards on duty until sunset, but in a crowded and noisy aquatic environment our concern is for the little ones so we’re implementing a strict rule that all groms under the age of 10 are wearing life vests AT ALL TIMES. This is the policy and we trust you understand as no one wants the unthinkable to happen. Please ensure you have your life vest (one per kid) ready to show at the gate, as we will be asking to see it – no life vest, no entry, no debate!
We’re also firmly against drink-driving so we encourage you to either take advantage of the camping area we provide (under the trees below the dam) or book accommodation in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley (Hermanus and Onrus are also a stone’s throw away). There are also various shuttle services, ask your host for details.
And that’s about that. Entrance is R100 per adult, R20 per child, and gates open at 10am. Let’s kick the tires, light some fires and listen to some music. See you on the 7th of February.
Space is limited, so please drop Anne an email to get your names on the guest list, firstname.lastname@example.org
